Far superior material about Davy Crockett is findable through Wikipedia than by using a search engine. For one thing, commercial, media, and other kinds of content are highly optimized to be found by search engines. Learning content usually is not so optimized.
Leaving aside the quality, good or not so good, of the long and detailed Wikipedia article about Crockett, the webpage where it is displayed abounds with places to find more. The page bristles with nodes you can click to discover a wide variety of information about this famous American frontiersman and politician. The image posted above is a screenshot of a small portion of the references you could follow to further information. These references are hand-picked by the Wikipedians who are interested in — and presumably know a lot about — Crockett. The Wikipedians have formed the links to their article so visitors can click through to other material that the link-makers respect.
Davy Crockett is a good test for showing how links created by subject experts — in this case on Crockett — outperform search engines. Search “Davy Crockett” on Google or another engine to see what I mean. The first few links will be good, but the abundance and scope of the links listed by the search engine pales against what the Wikipedia article offers.
